These Valentine’s Day Butter Cookies are one of my all-time favorite cookie recipes. My mom has been making them for years; since I was a kid. She typically uses chocolate sprinkles in them, but I really like to use colors and shapes that are specific to seasons and holidays. It’s fun for my kids, makes for an easy treat and is an incredibly easy way to celebrate the season.
With Valentine’s Day just a few days away, I wanted to make a sweet, homemade treat for my kiddos. These Valentine’s Day Butter Cookies were a huge hit. My 5-year-old scarfed down 6 cookies before the last batch were even out of the oven. Yep! They are THAT good! At a local grocery store, I found some heart-shaped sprinkles in all the gorgeous red, pink and purple tones that the holiday brings out. To get this perfectly round cookie shape, instead of dropping the batter on a parchment paper lined baking sheet, roll about a teaspoon (give or take) of the dough in your hands to make a small ball. This will yield a perfectly round cookies that’s just as delicious as ever!
