Cheese Steak Sandwiches

Last weekend, over the Memorial Day holiday, we took our oldest kiddo to a Phillies game.  SO MUCH FUN!!!!  After the game, the kids were allowed back into the stadium where they got to run around the bases.  WOW!  What a memory to have with him (and I’ll never forgot the line we waited in either…it went the whole way around the stadium!)  I don’t often watch baseball, but when I do, I prefer to watch in the stadium.  Up, close and personal, baby!  There is always so much energy in the stadium.  So much buzz.

So, I was buzzing about all the different food to try.  Eating at a sporting event, any sporting event, is an opportunity to throw caution to the wind…to kick the diet to the curb, at least for an evening!  After wandering around the stadium, taking in my options for food, I set my sights on the Philly Cheesesteak.  Both the hubs and I got one…his with provolone and mine with cheese wiz.  OHHH EMM GEE.  The cheese wiz was sooooooooo good.  Mouth watering.

So, after this life changing cheese steak, I knew I had to try and recreate this at home.  Off to my recipes I went, where I found this one for cheese steaks in the Instant Pot.  Since I recently purchased the Instant Pot, I knew I had to try it.  http://www.laurengreutman.com/slow-cooker-cheesesteak-sandwiches/

I made this recipe as is, no changes.  Although not quite what I had at he ball park (I used provolone instead of cheese wiz, and mildly regretting that decision), it was very good. The hubby loved it!

This was very easy to prepare.  It’s truly a recipe to dump all the ingredients and then set it and forget it…for 40 minutes!  That is it.  I popped mine under the broiler for an additional 5-6 minutes, but you definitely don’t have to do that.  It just helps to melt the cheese a bit faster and toasts your bun.  But….40ish minutes and voila…you have steak sandwiches!!! Enjoy.  Let me know what you think or if you have a recipe you use.  Drop me a line!
